Read what our founder and CEO, Peter Peard, had to say about how he got to where he is today, and the company he proudly started almost 20 years ago.

I started my real estate career as just your average “rookie” working at Satterley Real Estate 1989. I worked my backside off… Day and night, I lived and breathed real estate, and in four short years, I became a director and shareholder of one of the company’s branches.

In 1996, looking for my next challenge, I ventured into land sales and joined Australind Holdings before the opportunity to open my own business came about. After selling real estate for several years, I was growing tired of the traditional real estate office business model which was everywhere I looked. Too often, I saw principles run offices that were barely making a profit, walking away with little money at the end of a long road of hard work.

Well, I wasn’t going to run my business that way! I was determined to set up my own real estate company, one that operated a little differently.

My vision came to life in 1997 when I opened my first office, Peard Real Estate Hillarys. Situated on the beautiful Hillarys Marina, the office remains Peard Groups biggest success to this day, with the office recently winning REIWA’s Top Office titles for the fifth consecutive year.

Since opening the Hillarys branch, I have (with support of my amazing team), successfully launched a further 10 offices positioned prominently throughout Perth and most recently, in the Pilbara region. Collectively, the offices are turning over 40 million dollars a year and more impressively, Peard Real Estate is recording the highest average number of sales per branch in the entire state! 

Sometimes I can’t believe we’ve made it here today… It’s a great feeling, and the secret? I have to credit our success to a well-oiled ship; a unique business model which helps Peard Real Estate stand out from its competitors.

The model is simple - while an office licensee can own up to 49% of any given Peard Real Estate office, Peard must always own the remaining 51%. This helps to ensure standard systems and branding are present throughout the Group, whilst unmatched support to each office is always available. This allows each office to enjoy the success and benefits of working under a premium brand.

I strongly believe that a solid administrative structure allows licensees and real estate agents to focus on what they do best - sell real estate. This is why my model ensures all company administrative work is handled at a head office level. The Corporate Operations building is home to the Group’s finance, settlement, marketing, human resources, recruitment, accounts departments, training centre and project development which work together to alleviate extra work for the offices.

I have invested many resources into creating a centralised marketing department which I work very closely with, offering the company’s Sales Associates unparalleled industry support, corporate branding and state of the art marketing materials, putting them ahead of the game.

For me, success is not measured by one outstanding office, but rather, by the knowledge that every Peard Real Estate office is a client’s first choice in their respective areas. The company culture is one of friendships and shared successes; a unique aspect in a competitive sales industry.

Our most recent ventures have seen us open the innovate Peard Career Centre, a training school for industry ‘rookies’ as well as launching PRIMO Life, WA’s first lifestyle, entertainment and property magazine.
