After a vibrant and energising year featuring the lively 'Viva Magenta', Pantone has opted for a more subdued choice for its 2024 - Color of the Year -.
Introducing 'Peach Fuzz', a gentler shade that conveys a sense of warmth and comfort—a delicate hue nestled between pink and orange. Pantone's experts anticipate that this softer tone will capture the prevailing mood in the coming year.
“In a world that can seem very harsh, people are looking for colours that soothe, colours that are soft and warm, colours that nurture and provide us with comfort. It’s a shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace and effortlessly bridges the youthful and the timeless,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Colour Institute.
Somewhere between mid-century Palm Springs and a Moroccan riad, it's a romantic shade that will work well in most homes, with all the warmth and earthiness of deeper terracotta tones, but with a playful and poetic edge.
When working with any shade of pink, there's a potential for it to become excessively soft and sweet so it's advisable to counterbalance it by incorporating darker hues to mitigate this. Pink complements blues, greens, and even grays, enhancing those colors and establishing a harmonious relationship with them.
